DoGood this holiday season...SAY THANKS!

Around this time every year, there are men and women who aren't spending time with their families and they aren't playing or watching football with their friends and neighbors. Instead, they are abroad, protecting our freedom; fighting for our nation.

We should say thank you. Xerox has partnered with Give2TheTroops and is sending thank you cards to the troops. So follow this link, http://www.letssaythanks.com and take just a minute to say thank you to the men and women who are protecting us abroad.

Let our troops know that we really do appreciate their service.

you should do good.

Finding T-Shirts Made By Survivors

For those of you who don't know me, my background is in advertising, marketing & graphic art. Justin's background is in business, mostly construction. So, obviously, when we had the idea to start an ethical and world-changing apparel company, we really had no idea what it was going to take or even where to start.

The easy stuff--like becoming incorporated, getting tax ID numbers, paying for business licenses, and starting bank accounts--was, well, easy. That's the stuff that both of us have done before with other businesses that we've started.

So far, the most difficult part of this entire process, and one of the reasons we started the Dignitee, has been finding groups of survivors that make t-shirts. I find it absolutely amazing that no one is really doing this...yet. And if they are, it's really hard to find them.

Right now, we've been in communication with an organization in Cambodia and one in India. The organization in Cambodia currently doesn't operate at a very high capacity and, although the organization in India sews plenty of other stuff, they aren't making t-shirts yet.

It's very possible that we may have to start out using shirts from another manufacturing facility until we can build up capacity at these locations. Which isn't all bad. We'd still be offering great shirt designs and giving away ONE THIRD of our profits to organizations fighting human trafficking.

I'm not sure if everyone who starts a company goes through these types of bumps in the road, but they definitely build your character. I guess if it was easy, everyone would be doing it, right?

If you know of any human trafficking orgs who are doing this or any who'd be interested in starting something similar, please email me at: david@digniteeapparel.com.

Come back often and I'll keep you updated on how things are going...

Dignitee Apparel

Our first venture is Dignitee Apparel. With Dignitee Apparel we're working in partnership with a couple of great organizations in India and Cambodia to have our products (starting with t-shirts) made by rescued victims of human trafficking. Not only that, but we're also giving away ONE THIRD of our profits to non-profit organizations who are working to fight human trafficking like Faceless International and Freedom's Promise.

Starting in a couple of weeks, on 08/14, we're going to be selling some sweet designs online. We're also going to be selling our blank t-shirts wholesale for bands, churchs, youth groups, businesses, etc to buy and print their own designs on. We have competitive pricing, ethical business practices, and we're working to change the world! What more could you want?

HERE ARE SOME WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:

• If you haven't already, go to http://www.digniteeapparel.com and signup for our email list.

• While there please VOTE for which designs you'd like to see us print first.

• Become a fan of DoGooder and Dignitee Apparel on Facebook:

• Follow Dignitee Apparel on Twitter: http://twitter.com/dignitee

• Tell all of your friends about us!!!

• Oh, and buy some shirts.

We've got LOTS of other business ideas that will be coming in the future...but we have to start somewhere, right?

If you have any questions or comments, just let me know.

And so it begins...

Let the journey begin.

This blog is all about creatively using capitalism for good, not greed.

We absolutely believe in the power of capitalism, innovation, ingenuity, creativity, and good. So why can't companies do it all? In our opinion, it's cause they don't want to. It's really not 'that' hard to do some good in this world.

Are we experts? Not yet. So let's figure this out together, shall we?
